RELATIONSHIP STATUS Good girl Rory is dating bad boy Jess, the darkly handsome, vaguely dangerous kid her mama always warned her about. (Lorelai shouldn't worry, though -- it's likely this couple won't last, since the Jess character is getting a WB spin-off in the fall.)
WHY WE LOVE THEM Their involvement adds tension to the show and another dimension to the almost-too-perfect Rory (she's broken house rules, hearts, and even her arm while hanging out with this guy). Now there's FINALLY something for Lorelai and Rory to argue about. Guess mother-daughter relationships aren't all witty banter and trips to the coffee shop.
WHY WE DON'T Yeah, yeah, we know that it's realistic to have the nice guy finish last. But it's almost criminal that Rory gave up sweet, steady Dean to suck face with a punk who smugly disses her friends, her mother, and her interests. Where's the girl power in that?
