[shadow=blue,left,300] I found this amazing A Walk To Remember FanFic that is just so touching, I think everyone should read it...
For Everything There Is a Season: Part One
"..To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.."
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Chapter One:
"I found YOU"
Landon looked up suddenly and scanned the terrace, his eyes finally resting on the slim girl in a simple white wedding gown who was standing across the way from him. Beside him, Mrs. Taft held onto his arm as she waved her other hand and chattered on about her own wedding day. He briefly wondered why she wasn't telling her story to Jamie, but the thought quickly vanished.
He let his hazel eyes fall back on the elderly women's face. Her blue eyes sparkled merrily with mirth, and he wondered if she had always been so happy and kind.
Across from them, Jamie smiled and nodded her head as a group of girls clustered around her. Their compliments and giggles filled the air around her. Jamie stood in the middle of the group and patiently smiled, all the while thinking only of the man who stood across the room with an absent smile on his face. He really was a man, even though he was only eighteen years old.
The cancer consuming her body had forced him to grow up.
He looked up and caught her off guard; a grin on his boyish face. She smiled, lowering her head as a blush flushed across her pale cheeks. 'I love you.' He mouthed.
'I love you.' She mouthed back. The girls around her noticed and looked in Landon's direction, and another burst of giggles burst from their circle. Jamie blushed and excused herself.
She sat down at their table with a soft sigh and looked around. Their reception was a miracle. At first they had considered not having one, but so many people had helped them... they couldn't just invite them to a wedding and than have them quickly leave. So they had rented the small French restaurant, La Torte. It was the same place that they had had their first date.
Guests mingled and talked freely, slipping out onto the terrace with drinks in their hands. Outside, candles flickered in the soft breeze and white Christmas lights glowed from beneath the foliage of the ornamental trees that had been brought in by caterers. Flowers graced all the little tables and white table cloths fluttered in the breeze. Waiters stepped between the guests, offering drinks and appetizers. A small orchestra played softly from beneath a canopy of lights and trees as a few couples danced cheek to cheek. It was beautiful... and it was going to end any minute now. They had arrived when the sun had been high in the sky. Just an hour ago the sun had gone down, setting the ocean and the little reception aglow with vivid reds and golds. The sky was clear and dark now, and little stars winked down merrily at the guests and at the happy bride and groom.
She tilted her head back and smiled up at the sky. It was so perfect, just like she had always wished for it to be. She closed her eyes and thanked God silently for letting her have this perfect day.
"I wish I could have a picture of you when you look like that... so happy and peaceful."
She opened her eyes and gazed at Landon, who had dropped down to his hunches so that he could smile into her face.
"You don't need a picture. You have right now, and that's all that matters." She whispered, tracing a finger up his cheek. He caught her hand in his own and kissed it softly, never taking his eyes off her face. She let her gaze shift from his eyes toward the couple's that were dancing behind him. He turned to look at them, than turned back to her and grinned.
"We still haven't had our dance." He said, taking her hand and helping her up. She laughed softly and let him take her into her arms. "What do you say Mrs. Carter... will you dance with me?"
"Mmm." She murmured, tilting her head and smiling softly. He grinned and walked her toward the other couples. He caught the eye of one of the violinists and nodded his head.
"Wait." He whispered. She paused and looked up at him, wondering what he was up to now. The music stopped and the dancing couples looked up. They broke up and parted into a semi-circle, allowing Landon and Jamie all the room. The violinist waved his bow and suddenly the air was filled with soft, sweet music.
Jamie froze, but Landon took her gently into his arms and began to slowly move, aware that her eyes were still locked on his.
"There's a song that's inside of my soul...it's the one that I've tried, to write over and over again...." He began softly singing the words, his eyes smiling gently into hers.
Her body moved slowly, and all she could hear or see was him. He hugged her closer so that her chin rested on his shoulder. His voice was low, so that the guests around them could barely hear him. His mouth tickled her ear, and she closed her eyes and let him move her across the floor.
Around them, the guests remained silent. The couples sighed, watching them wistfully. Landon stopped moving and took hold of her hands so that they faced each other, their fingers clasping and unclasping.
"I'm giving you everything. I'm giving you all of me. I want your symphony, singing in all that I am.... at the top of my lungs, I'm giving it back...."
Landon let go of her hands and cupped her face..."And I lay my head back down, and lift my hands and pray, to be only yours, I pray.to be only yours, I pray to be only yours... I know you're my only hope..."
She stood still as the song died on his lips, her eyes closed and her body trembling. He bent down and kissed her forehead, than the tip of her nose, and finally her lips. It was a soft, innocent kiss. Her eyes fluttered open and her hands covered his as his fingers traced the curve of her cheeks.
"I love you, Jamie Carter." He finally whispered, leaning so that their foreheads touched gently. She closed her eyes for a moment.
"I love you, Landon Carter." She whispered back, her eyes fluttering open.
The orchestra began playing another tune and Landon led Jamie back to their table. He sat down in a chair and took her into his arms. She was so thin; she weighed almost nothing. She let her head fall back against his shoulder and a dreamy look fell across her face. He watched her out of the corner of his eye and smiled gently down at her.
"This day has been so perfect... I don't want it to end."
"We still have a few hours before midnight, Cinderella."
She laughed and he kissed her on the cheek.
"But still... already all the stars are out and soon we'll have to leave and that will be the end." She said with such disappointment that he couldn't help but burst out into laughter. "What's so funny?" She asked, turning to face him.
"You are." He replied, smoothing a curl away from her face. "Baby, don't be so sad about this day ending. It makes me feel as though you only married me to wear a wedding dress and walk down the aisle!"
She punched him lightly in the arm and sat back with smile on her face. "Still Landon...it's just so sad to leave it behind." He bent his head down so that his lips were inches from her ear.
"It is... but just think, we have the rest of the night..." He murmured with a mischievous grin.
She burst out into such sudden, loud laughter, several of the guests turned to stare at them with amused grins. Jamie's face turned pink and Landon only grinned back with boyish innocence at everyone who had turned to look at them.
They could only guess at what the happy couple had been talking about.
