It's only going on at mid season...the weird thing is they still haven't found a name for it they are still calling it the Gilmore Gilmore spin-off, it's slightly weird. Anyway it said on the one thing that Jess and Dean aren't going anywhere so it's not like right off the bat you have to get use to Jess not being there (although you probably did steady yourself.)

Well folks, it looks like the spinoff is NOT going to happen...this is from the WB official news site... PLANNED GILMORE GIRLS SPINOFF WILL NOT GO FORWARD BURBANK, CA (June 18, 2003) - The creative team behind the GILMORE GIRLS spin-off, Amy Sherman-Palladino, Warner Bros. Television and The WB mutually announced today that the show will not go forward as a mid-season order. Said Jordan Levin, President, Entertainment, of The WB Television Network, and Peter Roth, President, Warner Bros. Television in a joint statement: "Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino are among the most talented and creative Executive Producers/writers/show runners in our industry today. Amy's unique vision and voice made 'Gilmore Girls' appointment television in millions of American households. The show is a valuable property to Warner Bros. Television and has been a major contributing factor in the success of The WB Network. "It is with great disappointment that we announce our mutual decision not to proceed with the 'Gilmore Girls' spin-off. After thorough analysis, we have determined that the costs to produce six episodes of an ambitious series, filmed totally on location in Venice, CA., were simply prohibitive. Everyone involved in the project agreed that the necessary cost cuts would severely compromise the creative vision and quality of the show. "We thank Amy Sherman-Palladino and her talented team for delivering a terrific pilot and deeply regret our inability to move forward with this project. We do, however, look forward to working closely with them on the much-anticipated fourth season of 'Gilmore Girls.'" Amy Sherman-Palladino, Creator/Executive Producer of 'Gilmore Girls' and the spin-off, stated: "I should have listened to what my mother told me when I was a little girl: 'If you set a show in Venice, no one's gonna pay for it.' This was a great project, with a great cast. I was honored to work with each one of these actors. Dan and I now look forward to a fourth great year of 'Gilmore Girls' and to definitely developing new projects for Fall 2004."
