I just about DIED when Emily came to the Inn to meet Mia -- was it just me, or was I dreading the possibility that EMILY might BUY the Independence Inn HERSELF? Argh! Then Lorelai would be working for her mother! Agggg! I was LOL when Mia was disclosing 'Lucas secrets' like the skateboard and the Star Trek t-shirt - too funny! ;D

Well folks, it looks like the spinoff is NOT going to happen...this is from the WB official news site... PLANNED GILMORE GIRLS SPINOFF WILL NOT GO FORWARD BURBANK, CA (June 18, 2003) - The creative team behind the GILMORE GIRLS spin-off, Amy Sherman-Palladino, Warner Bros. Television and The WB mutually announced today that the show will not go forward as a mid-season order. Said Jordan Levin, President, Entertainment, of The WB Television Network, and Peter Roth, President, Warner Bros. Television in a joint statement: "Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino are among the most talented and creative Executive Producers/writers/show runners in our industry today. Amy's unique vision and voice made 'Gilmore Girls' appointment television in millions of American households. The show is a valuable property to Warner Bros. Television and has been a major contributing factor in the success of The WB Network. "It is with great disappointment that we announce our mutual decision not to proceed with the 'Gilmore Girls' spin-off. After thorough analysis, we have determined that the costs to produce six episodes of an ambitious series, filmed totally on location in Venice, CA., were simply prohibitive. Everyone involved in the project agreed that the necessary cost cuts would severely compromise the creative vision and quality of the show. "We thank Amy Sherman-Palladino and her talented team for delivering a terrific pilot and deeply regret our inability to move forward with this project. We do, however, look forward to working closely with them on the much-anticipated fourth season of 'Gilmore Girls.'" Amy Sherman-Palladino, Creator/Executive Producer of 'Gilmore Girls' and the spin-off, stated: "I should have listened to what my mother told me when I was a little girl: 'If you set a show in Venice, no one's gonna pay for it.' This was a great project, with a great cast. I was honored to work with each one of these actors. Dan and I now look forward to a fourth great year of 'Gilmore Girls' and to definitely developing new projects for Fall 2004."

USA Today Wednesday, September 4, 2002 By the same writer, Robert Bianco: Ailing favorites could use some fine-tuning By Robert BiancoWith the Labor Day holiday behind us, it's time for some belabored favorites to get to work. Now, obviously most of the attention in the weeks ahead will be focused on fall's freshman debuts. But when the excitement over the slate of choices ends -- and this season, that's likely to come sooner rather than later -- people will once again focus on their older prime-time friends. Particularly those that left us in less than prime shape. Still, in the TV world, fall is a season of unbounded optimism, so let's assume all those shaky favorites can reclaim past glories. After all, look at Friends, which bounced back last year to have one of its best and most successful seasons. If Friends can do it, why not, say, ER or The Practice? All they need is a little guidance. So here it is: a worksheet for six favorite shows, one per network, laying out what's wrong and what needs to be done. 'Gilmore Girls' (WB, Sept. 24) * The problem: Summed up in one word: Jess, a bad-boy character who is badly conceived and inadequately portrayed. He throws off the show's delicate fantasy balance and makes even the sweeter moments ring less true. * The fix: No one likes to see an actor lose his job, so perhaps Jess could just fall into an irreversible coma. And is there any chance he could take Law & Order's latest ADA (Elisabeth Rohm) with him? * The prognosis: Alas, we seem to be stuck with Jess, so all we can do is look past him. It worked for one year, so why not another?
