Have you read the book The Princess Bride by William Goldman? It's hilarious(spell check anyone?)! If you loooooooooooooooove animals you may not like the character of Humperdink much. He has a Zoo Of Death and outside the Zoo Of Death there's a wheel that he spins before going inside that determins which animal he's going to stangle with his bare hands(gruesome, i know)
The main character is this girl, Buttercup, and she is so simple minded that she can only think of one thing at a time.
The guy who wrote this said that there was a person who wrote this book before him and that he was only writing the interesting parts except that it turns out that there was no person before him that wrote that book and he was just saying that there was. He says the weirdest things in the book like when he was explaining the time period he said "This was before Europe, but after Paris". You figure it out.
On the back of my teacher's copy where it tells you about the book it says:
What happens when a beautiful girl marries a real son of a bitch?(or something like that)
One more thing(I know it's getting annoying) when Humperdink's dad died...guess what he said? Guess? He said "Great. Now I'll have to get married"

I've read the books in the Princess Diaries series. They are laugh out loud FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED them. The Mia in the book is WAY WAY WAAAAAAAAAAAY different then the Mia in the movie. You should aaaaallllll read them. Personaly I thought the first one was the funniest. She has a tendancy to think that whoever calls her a beauty is on crack.
